Meet Bopha

After Bopha received her new smartphone, the first thing she wanted to do was create accounts on social media, like Facebook and Instagram. She saw from her friend’s profiles that they uploaded so many pictures of themselves having fun, going to the beach, eating at restaurants, and she wanted to upload pictures of herself too.  

When opening her account, she was asked to insert so much personal information about herself! Her full name, phone number, where she lives, where she goes to school, what her hobbies are etc. She thought that if her friends have an account, they probably put their information, and there should be no harm in it.    

Should Bopha upload all that personal information online?

Bopha just opened a Facebook account and really wanted to increase the amount of friends she had. After adding her real friends and family she started adding friends of friends’ and then strangers that sent her a friend request. One of the requests was from a boy she did not know but his profile picture was really cute so she approved him immediately. They started chatting on messenger, and he said his name was Leap and he was 15 years old. He liked the same music as she did and he was so much fun to talk to! After a while he proposed to meet her in person. Bopha wasn’t sure she should because she has never met him before. But he was so nice and cute and she was really interested in him.

There is a boy that studies with Bopha at school named Reach. Bopha thinks he is smart and handsome and all the girls in her class like him. When Reach saw she got a new smartphone, he asked for her number. She was really excited and happy to talk with the most handsome boy in class! They messaged for a while, and after a few messages he asked her to send him a photo of herself.  She took a selfie and sent him, but he was not satisfied and asked for her to send a naked picture of herself. She was so surprised and felt extremely uncomfortable. He said it was just because he liked her so much and he assured her he won’t show it to anyone else. He said they can use an app which will erase the photo automatically after 1 hour so she shouldn’t worry. Bopha really liked him and was afraid that if she refused, he would stop talking to her.
