Welcome to the online course ?Protecting our Children from Online Child Sexual Exploitation? by APLE Cambodia!  

This course has been built for you by Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE Cambodia), one of the leading organizations which fight against child sexual abuse and exploitation in Cambodia since 2003.  

In this course, you will learn all about online safety, what risks are posed for children online, and how you can best protect your child to have a safe and healthy experience while using the internet 

There are 4 lessons in this course which give you a comprehensive understanding on how to keep your child safe from Online Child Sexual Exploitation.  

With the completion of this course you will be awarded a certificate certifying you have successfully completed all lessons, but the best award of all will be your increased ability to keep your child protected from harm during their online use.  

To be entitled for a certificate, you will have to complete 70% of all review activities correctly, and 70% on the final test.

Who is the course for?

This course was designed specifically for parents/carers in order to help introduce them to what children do online, understand the different risks involved related to online child sexual exploitation, and ensure they have the tools to protect and support children so that their online activities are done safely. 

 If you are a parent of a child who spends time online, whether it is on their smartphone, tablet or home computer, this course is for you! By taking this course you are taking the necessary steps to make sure your child is safe from harm online.

  • Session 1.3 Common online platforms used by children 
  • Session 1.4 Review 

You will go through 5 sessions focusing on the following topics:

  • Session 2.1 What is Online Child Sexual Exploitation (OCSE)? 
  • Session 2.2 Review 
  • Session 2.3 Online offenders and risks 
  • Session 2.4 Common forms of OCSE 
  • Session 2.5 Review 

You will go through 4 sessions focusing on the following topics:

  • Session 3.1 Identifying signs of OCSE 
  • Session 3.2 Review 
  • Session 3.3 Supporting your child in cases of OCSE 
  • Session 3.4 Review 

You will go through 4 sessions focusing on the following topics:

  • Session 4.1 Parental controls 
  • Session 4.2 Healthy and open communication 
  • Session 4.3 Review 
  • Session 4.4 Summary 

At the end of the course, you will be required to complete a final test.
